Russell J. Cavallo, M.D., MEd, FAAOS
Dr. Russell Cavallo received his undergraduate degree in 1986 from Colgate University where he majored in Biology and lettered in both Varsity Soccer and Baseball. He furthered his studies at Temple University where he earned a Master's degree in Sports Medicine and graduated in 1988. His medical training was performed at The Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City where he received his medical degree in 1992. He earned honors in Surgery and as the top student in the Neurosciences and was asked to remain at Mount Sinai for his Orthopaedic Residency which he completed in 1997. While there he received excellent Orthopaedic training with particular emphasis on trauma and joint reconstructive surgery. He also developed and interest in Shoulder Reconstruction and pursued this interest while spending time on the Shoulder Service at the Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York City.
He went on to become subspecialized in not only Shoulder Reconstructive Surgery, but also Sports Medicine and Knee Surgery while performing a dual fellowship at the Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. While there, he served as the assistant team physician for all Duke University athletic teams and the student body. He also served as the team physician for the North Carolina Central University athletic teams and consulted on numerous professional athletes including players from the United States Professional Soccer Team. He has continued to maintain an interest and commitment to sports medicine by taking care of numerous high schools and colleges in the Westchester and Stamford areas.
Dr. Cavallo is board certified and maintains good status as a fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is a member of the following professional organizations:

Dr. Cavallo is extensively published in the Orthopaedic literature is topics ranging from enhancement of fracture healing to shoulder and anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. He has also presented at numerous international conferences including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and twice at the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
As a physician with the Premier Medical Group he practices out of the Stamford, CT and West Harrison, NY offices.
